The good old days....

The world has changed so much over the past years! I was talking today about the 80's with some other women around my age(VERY early 30's). Remember huge aquanet bangs, wearing more than one pair of socks (and not because it was cold), and hypercoler t-shirts? I do. I feel so old sometimes, especially when I think of the things that my kids will never know - like corded phones, cameras that actually needed film and developing, and typewriters!

When I was growing up, my grandparents had an antique ice box. It was a little wooden cabinet that they used as a telephone stand, but in it's days of use you put a large block of ice in it to keep your food cold. The ice had to be replaced daily. It was kind of like a fancy cooler with no insulation. They also had a iron that you had to heat up on the stove, which they used as a door stop! What will the future generations think when they see a phone in a museum somewhere with a stretched out coiled wire that kept the user tethered to a wall in the kitchen :)

Oh yeah, I also remember when you HAD to go to the library to do research for a paper!
